Post 1: Introduction to the Thought For the Day Process

What else can you do?
This series of posts will introduce you to the idea of "Thought for the Day" at European Leadership School (QBE Qualified by Experience Education).

1.  The student looks at a book or poster.
2.  The student selects a quote for that day to study
3.  The student sits quietly, thinking about the meaning of the quote and puts the idea into his own words.  "For me, this quote means...."
4.  At the end of the day, the group gathers and reflects about additional thoughts about the "Thought for the Day."

It is said that it is better to have fewer items than too many.   The aim is to have fewer than 7 items for you to look at on each post.

Less is more.

The list of books will be given as photos, since many people SEE more than they READ.  You are encouraged to scan the list until you find something that appeals to you.

See Hartjen's websitea about SOcial IQ
and his view of COMMUNICATION
The list is not complete and you are invited to suggest additional titles.  You can also add your comments.

Dennis Yuzenas has summarized Glasser
about CHOICE:  teachers discuss with
students what they will study and how they
will be tested.  HERE is a PDF
The aim is to keep the blog posts on this blog to a minimum, perhaps fewer than 10 posts per year, so that you can return and perhaps get more by focusing on another part of the post.

The point face of this font is large so you can quickly scan it (not more than about ten words per line on the page).

The eleven points (compare the 14 points
for management at wikipedia
and MINDTOOLS
The different colors and BOLD or ITALIC is intended to give you some variety when you scan this post.

This is the book with Dr. Deming's
11 points for Labor.  This book is the only
place that I've found where this list appears.

Remember to look at the photos on the Facebook page Facebook.com/QBEELS

There are some photos here to get you started on some readings.  You can search the Internet or you can find some ebooks to download from TransFormTeaching.org.

  1. I hope you will send me a list of your favorite books. Perhaps we can include several titles in the next "Thought for the Day" post. It will help us (who are "reluctant readers") to have pictures and if you tell us where to look in the book. For example, start with page 133 and the Fedex logo in A Whole New Mind by Dan Pink. (It's a fascinating exercise.)

There are quotation projects. Please make a list of quotations that you find valuable and contact me with your suggestions. Books created on Createspace can be reissued as another edition with updates and additions.
